This ornament got a lot of attention when I put it up for sale yesterday. Many of you contacted me asking if I'd be releasing a pattern so you could make your own. Good news: this ornie was made using 2 patterns that are currently available. The first one being a FREE pattern that can be found here. You will follow the instructions for the snowman head ornie.
Supplies for the snowman head:
Then you will make the hat using the Snowman Head Trio pattern.
Supplies for the hat:
I also used Black Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic paint on the hat (affiliate link below - at the time of this posting, you can get an 8oz bottle for only $3.99 with prime shipping...great price!)
Hot glue the hat to the head. Make the whimsical hanger by following the instructions in the Snowman Head Trio Pattern for the top spiral using 16 gauge rusty wire. Do not curl the bottom spiral, leave the wire straight instead. Next, create a hole in the tip of the hat with a large darning needle & feed straight end of the wire through the hole. Shape a smaller spiral with your needle nose pliers to hold the ornie in place. Cut off any extra wire, as needed. Thread the bell onto the top spiral.
Finally, apply an even coat of extra strength spray adhesive (affiliate link below) to the ornie & sprinkle with mica flakes & snow flurries (affiliate link below). If you haven't read my blog post about making sifting shakers for your Styrofoam snow click here.
That's all there is to it...have fun & feel free to put your own creative twist on the ornies. I always love seeing what you're making, so post your creations in the comments below!
Keep on Crafting!
